RUBY H. GREGGS

Ruby Haywood Greggs, 91, of the 900 block of Baldwin Ave., went to her heavenly reward Tuesday, May 14, 1996.

Mrs. Greggs was born in Gloucester County, Va., on Aug. 18, 1904. She graduated from the College of William and Mary and taught in the Gloucester County School system before moving to Norfolk in the 1920s. She joyfully served in Zion Grace United Methodist Church for many years. She taught the Adult Bible Class for over 30 years; was a member of the choir for 50 years; was secretary to the board; was a member of the United Methodist Women and served in many other positions in the church.

Mrs. Greggs was a past president of the James Madison School PTA. She worked for the Red Cross, the Heart Association and Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. She was involved in numerous civic functions and was a member of the Norfolk Senior Citizens.

Surviving are her son, Robert L. Greggs Jr. of Norfolk; her daughter, Margaret L. Bond, and her husband, Walter Bond of Virginia Beach; her loving sister, Rebecca H. Caffee of Norfolk; four grandchildren, Diane C. Miller of Nampa, Idaho, Stanley W. Chase III of Gilbert, Ariz., Sheree L. Busch of Virginia Beach, Linda L. Richendollar of Mathews County; 10 great-grandchildren; loving nieces and nephews, family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert L. Greggs Sr. and a daughter, Katherine Greggs Chase.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at Zion Grace United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Friday by the Rev. Charles W. Hubbard. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. A visitation will be today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Zion Grace United Methodist Church Sharing Fund, 1440 W. Little Creek Road, Norfolk, Va. 23505.
