Dorothy Edwards, 72, of Halifax St., died Tuesday, May 14, 1996, in Greensville Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Hopewell, Va., and the daughter of the late Rufus and Mamie Harrison Mayes. She was a member of the Royal Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, James R. Edwards Sr. of Emporia; four daughters, Edna Ferebee of Virginia Beach, Carolyn Johnson, Janice Featherston, and Aronda Kent of Chesapeake; a son, James R. Edwards Jr. of Emporia; two sisters, Mildred LaSure of Vineland, N.J., and Mary Lively of Montclair, Va.; a brother, Daniel Mayes of Atlantic City, N.J.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday from the Royal Baptist Church by the Rev. Jacob Turner Jr. Interment will be in the Forest Lawn Memorial Garden. Final arrangements entrusted to Knox Funeral Service, Inc.
