JANET JOHNSON

Janet Johnson, 72, of the 2100 block of Columbus Ave., died May 14, 1996, in her home.

She was a native of Southampton County, Va. and the widow of Willie Walter Johnson. She was a member and missionary of Zion Bethel United Church of Christ, Portsmouth. She was also a member of the Flower Club and Senior Citizens Club.

She is survived by three daughters, Janice Hooker of Portsmouth, Betty Washington of Hartford, Conn. and Barbara Jackson of Dorchester, Mass.; two sons, George Hardy and Willie Hardy, both of Portsmouth; two brothers, Charlie Hardy and Edgar Hardy, both of New York City; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; a daughter-in-law; two sons-in-law; and other in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. D.A. Peace in Zion Bethel United Church of Christ, Portsmouth. Burial is in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. The body will be taken to the church prior to the funeral service.
