CHESAPEAKE JUBILEE OPENS FRIDAY

ILLUSTRATION: 21-month-old Jay Ross rides his tricycle near a large Ferris

wheel being erected for the '96 Chesapeake Jubilee. The Jubilee

will open a three-day run Friday. The event is expected to attract

thousands to the festival grounds near Chesapeake City Park off

Greenbrier Parkway. The Atlanta Rhythm Section will perform Friday

at 6:30 p.m. on the Main Stage, followed by The Bellamy Brothers at

8:30 p.m. Bill Pinkney & the Original Drifters will take the stage

at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Shuttle buses will be available for $2 per

person round-trip at the Great Bridge Civic Center and at the former

Volvo Plant.
