WEEKEND
IT'S HIGH SPEED RACING on the water at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront during this weekend's Jet Sports Tour. Professionals and amateurs rev up their personal watercraft (you might know them better as jet skis) and compete in races and freestyle routines in the Westcoast Performance Nationals. The action begins at 9 a.m. and lasts till 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday off 4th Street. 437-4800. ESPN will be filming with tentative air dates of 2 p.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. May 25 (on ESPN2) and 5 p.m. July 2 (on ESPN).
- Roy Bahls WEDNESDAY
THERE'S LOTS of reasons we could list why Wednesday's Junior Wells show is a must-see. Check these reviews instead: ``Junior Wells is an urban hero, a big-city bluesman.'' ``Wells plays the harp like most of us breathe.'' ``Junior Wells still struts on stage as if he's got a thundercloud stuck up his pants.'' Convinced? OK, the Windy City great, who just cut a new disc for Telarc, is touring with an eight-piece band, including three horns. That's hot. 8 p.m. at the Bait Shack, Waterside, Norfolk. Tickets: 10; 622-3654.
- Craig Shapiro THURSDAY
WITH THREE albums and a handful of local concerts to their credit, Seattle's Posies are no strangers. But, besides a new rhythm section and tougher sound, their ``Big-O'' show Thursday at Norfolk's Town Point Park will be different. Sponsored by WKOC-FM, it's a ``gated'' performance, meaning you need a ticket to get in. The Coast has been passing them out to listeners. If you don't get a freebie, it's $10. Or, you can watch from Waterside Drive. It begins at 5. Opening are Solution A.D. and Hampton Roads' own Hollowbodies. 441-2345.
