River Pointe Neighborhood - Application of the city to rezone a portion of the River Pointe Development from Residential RM-60-K- to Residential RS-75 and Residential RS-60. Referred back to the Planning Commission on Feb. 12.
Approved, 7-0 River Park Neighborhood - Application of the city for comprehensive rezoning of portions of the River Park neighborhood from Residential Multi-Family RM-75 to Residential Single-Family RS-75 and Commercial C-1 to Residential Single-Family RS-75. The properties are generally bounded by portions of Detroit Avenue, West Road, Glasgow Street, Douglas Avenue, Florida Avenue and a portion of the western branch of the Elizabeth River.
Approved, 7-0 Northside Neighborhood - Application of the city for a comprehensive rezoning in the Park View, West Park View and Shea Terrace neighborhoods from Residential Multi-Family RM-60 and Residential Multi-Family RM-75 to Residential Single-Family RS-60 and Residential Single-Family RS-75. The properties are generally bounded by Enterprise Way and London Boulevard, Martin Luther King Freeway, Scott's Creek, Elm Avenue, Blair Street and Fort Lane.
Approved, 7-0 Cradock Neighborhood - Application of the city for a comprehensive rezoning of portions of the Cradock neighborhood from Residential Single-Family RS-75. They are generally bounded by George Washington Highway, Paradise Creek, Victory Boulevard and the city boundary line with the city of Chesapeake.
Approved, 7-0 West Norfolk Neighborhood - Application of the city to rezone 4404 and 4408 West Norfolk Road from Commercial C-2 to Commercial C-1.

The City Council took the following action at its meeting Tuesday: Motion to transfer $100,000 from the Emergency Budget Contingency for the City Jail. Due to uncontrollable increases in the inmate population, funds remaining for medical services, prisoner meals and laundry services are not sufficient for the remainder of the fiscal year.
Approved, 7-0 Ordinance to appropriate $120,000 from the Capital Improvements Fund for the design and fabrication of exhibits for Phase II of the Children's Museum.
Approved, 7-0 Motion to award the contract to Kearney and Associates.
Approved, 7-0 Resolution to provide for the acquisition of certain property owned by Brinkley Trailer Court, Inc., under eminent domain proceedings for the widening of George Washington Highway.
Approved, 7-0 Resolution to provide the acquisition of certain property owned by Thomas Benvenuto under eminent domain proceedings for the widening of George Washington Highway. The Navy and VDOT will reimburse the city for its expenses in acquiring the land and will bear the cost of construction.
Approved, 7-0 Motion to transfer $89,753 from the Grants Contingency Account for the 1996 Summer Breakfast and Lunch Program as awarded by the United States Department of Agriculture.
A total of 1,650 meals (breakfasts and lunches) will be served at nine sites throughout the city for a total of 1,650 meals per day for 33 days. These meals will be served to youth residing in low income communities in the city. No local funds are required.
