ROBERT J. CAMPBELL SR.

Robert John ``Bob'' Campbell Sr., U.S. Navy (retired), of 216 Cassady Ave., went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 16, 1996.

He was a native of Philadelphia and resided in Virginia Beach for the past 35 years. He also was a member of the Open Door Chapel of Virginia Beach. He was a World War II veteran and retired with an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1962. Mr. Campbell was an author of several Christian books that have been circulated worldwide.

He is survived by his wife, Millie Short Campbell; four sons, Robert Campbell Jr. of Texas, Bruce Campbell and Ronnie Campbell, both of Virginia Beach, and Dwight Maxey of Portsmouth; four daughters, Joan Bremmer of Virginia Beach, Barbara Weeks and Karen Callahan, both of Chesapeake, and Kathy Grosse of Lakeland, Fla.; five brothers; a sister of Cherry Hill, N.J.; seven grandsons; two granddaughters; and a great-grandson.

The family will receive friends at the Bonney Road Chapel, Kellum Funeral Home, Virginia Beach from 6 to 8 p.m. today. The funeral will be held at Open Door Chapel, 3177 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, at 1 p.m. Saturday. The burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. There will be a reception for family and friends at Open Door Chapel following the burial. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
