Frances P. ``Fran'' Sykes, 70, a resident of Luther Manor, died May 15, 1996, in her residence.
She was a native of Sunbury, N.C., and the widow of Lonnie Ray Sykes Sr. Mrs. Sykes was a member of First United Methodist Church of Norfolk. She was a member of Luther Manor Residents Council and a very active participant in all the social events and functions.
She is survived by a son, Lonnie R. ``Pete'' Sykes Jr. of Norfolk; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Pope of Norfolk, Alice Spencer, and her husband, Joseph Spencer of Chesapeake, Lib Womack, and her husband, Vernon Womack of Farmville, and Evelyn Norwood of Palm Bay, Fla.; and a brother, James Robert Parker, and his wife, Frances Parker, of Virginia Beach. She was predeceased by her parents, Mattie Belle and Isaac Raymond Parker.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Robert A. Edwards in Holloman-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel. Burial is in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
