Ruth Reel Dunn, 75, died May 15, 1996, at her residence.
Mrs. Dunn, the widow of Charles E. Hickerson Jr. and Carl Rivers Dunn Sr., retired from Carolina Telephone as a service assistant. She was a native of Pamilco County, N.C., and a member of Haygood United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer at Bayside Hospital and charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church in New Bern, N.C.
Survivors include three sons, Charles E. Hickerson of Chesapeake, Carl Rivers Dunn Jr. of Orange Park, Fla., Kenneth Michael Dunn of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Horace McLaurin at Trinity United Methodist Church, New Bern. Burial will be in Greenleaf Memorial Park in New Bern. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Methodist Home for Children in Raleigh, N.C., or to American Lung Association or to American Cancer Society. The body will be sent to Cotten Funeral Home in New Bern for services and burial.
