DELBERT E. LAWLES

Delbert Eugene Lawles, 54, of the 1800 block of Gannet Court, died May 11, 1996, in Seattle, Wash.

Mr. Lawles, a native of Columbus, Ind., retired from the U.S. Navy as a senior chief petty officer after 21 years of service. He was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bassie Lawles; three daughters, Susan Ledesma of San Diego, Calif., Carolyn Gomez of Norfolk, and Katie Mitchell of San Diego; a sister, Sandra Smith of Columbus; and two grandchildren, Adam Lawles and Camillia Gomez, both of Norfolk.

A funeral Mass will be conducted at noon Saturday by Father Timothy Drake at St. Matthews Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter Carolyn at 3623 Herbert St., Norfolk. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is in charge.
