VIRGINIA S. FOWLER

Virginia Dare Saunders Fowler, passed away Thursday, May 16, 1996, at Virginia Beach General Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Cleo Baker and Cary B. Saunders. Mrs. Fowler lived her early years in Norfolk and later moved to Virginia Beach where she resided for over 40 years. She graduated from Maury High School and attended Atlantic University and the School of Design for Women in Philadelphia, Pa. She, at one time, was active with the Virginia Beach Republican Women and served as their president. She was a member of the Norfolk Woman's Club and the First Christian Church in Norfolk.

Mrs. Fowler is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, R. Forrest Fowler; a daughter, Jeanne Anne Forrest of Vienna, Va.; a son, Robert F. Fowler II of Atlanta, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Kenneth and Karen Beckwitt and Elizabeth and Robert Fowler III.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Dr. Lewis A. McPherren and Dr. C. William Howard. The family will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m. for a visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 1600 Colonial Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23517. Cox Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
