Patricia Helene Ayres Charlton, 49, passed away Thursday evening May 16, 1996, at her home after a long battle with cancer.
Mrs. Charlton was a psychiatric nurse at Ridgeview Psychiatric Center and Hospital of Oak Ridge for 12 years. Mrs. Charlton was a member of The American Cancer Society and The Tennessee Nurses Association, where she served as secretary for the local chapter. She was also named volunteer of the year by The American Cancer Society. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Virginia. Mrs. Charlton was a member of Chapel on the Hill Church in Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Patricia Helene Charlton is survived by her husband, Dr. Lowell A. Charlton; a daughter, Angela Weiler of Cleveland, Ohio; a daughter, Laura Charlton of Nashville, Tenn.; parents, W.F. ``Bob'' and Evelyn Eberwine Ayres of Portsmouth; and brother, Ronald Ayres of Portsmouth.
The family of Patricia Helene Charlton received friends Saturday, May 11, 1996, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. Graveside services were held Monday, May 13, 1996, at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with the Rev. Boyd Carter officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Mrs. Charlton's memory to The American Cancer Society, 871 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, Tenn. 37909.
