POLICE FILE MURDER CHARGES; VICTIM'S IDENTITY STILL UNCERTAIN

A man whose wife has been reported missing by relatives was charged with murder early Sunday after police found a decomposing body in his Colonial Place home. But it's not clear yet who the victim is.

Tobin J. Jones, 36, was first questioned Saturday when police came to his home in the 700 block of Delaware Avenue to investigate a missing-person report.

They instead found a woman's body inside.

The body was sent to the State medical examiner's office for examination and identification. That is expected today.

Police have not speculated on a cause of death pending the medical examiner's report.

She is believed to have been dead almost a week.

Early Sunday, investigators went back to the Jones home and arrested Jones.

His wife, Megan Jones, was reported missing a week ago.

But police have not said whether they believe it was her body found in the home.

Tobin Jones is on leave from his post as medical director of the Norfolk Community Services Board, where he oversees psychiatric and related medical activities for the board's mental health, mental retardation and substance abuse services.

Jones has been with the board since 1991.
