JAMES O. SILVESTER

James Orville Silvester, 75, of East Ridge Road, died May 19, 1996, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

He was born in old Norfolk County, Va., the son of the late Alda Berry and Minnie Dozier Silvester. He was retired from the civil service as a pipefitter. He was a member of the Northwest Baptist Church. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Sullivan Silvester, and three daughters, Dottie A. Silvester of Moyock, Marie Silvester of Chesapeake; and Jean S. Spencer of Moyock; two sisters, Belle Etheridge of Moyock and Ruth Powers of Chesapeake; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson and a great-grandson.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens by Dr. Roscoe Musselwhite. The family will receive friends at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
