Police are looking for a 61-year-old woman who, apparently distraught over her health, left her home May 12, saying she was going to work and did not return.
Peggy Hanbury of the 300 block of D Street apparently took a taxi to the McDonald's on Route 13 in the Deep Creek section and then disappeared, according to Elizabeth Jones, a spokeswoman for the Chesapeake Police Department.
Hanbury asked the taxi driver not to tell anyone where he had taken her.
Hanbury's husband noticed that her car was still parked at their house after she said she was leaving for work.
He also found a note at the house that she wrote saying she was tired of spending time in the hospital and didn't want to go back. She apparently had several gallstones removed recently, according to the police report.
She is described as 5 feet, 3 inches tall, 135 pounds, with blue eyes and blond hair. She wears glasses and a diamond cluster ring.
Anyone who sees Hanbury is asked to call Detective M.J. Fischetti at 436-8458 or crime line at 487-1234. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
