TWO-YEAR-OLD MISSING

A 2-year-old wearing a life jacket was missing and the bodies of two people were recovered near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel after a boating accident Tuesday night in Norfolk, Coast Guard officials said.

Another person suffered hypothermia after the accident and floated in the Bay from Harrison's Fishing Pier to the bridge-tunnel before being rescued, said Petty Officer Al Bennett, a spokesman for the Coast Guard.

The accident occurred about 5:30 p.m. about a mile west of Harrison's Fishing Pier in Norfolk. The 18-foot pleasure craft sank, but the cause of the accident was unclear Tuesday night, Bennett said.

The bodies of the two adults were spotted by another boat about 400 yards east of the entrance to the Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base several hours later. The boat picked up the surviving adult near the scene.
