Dorothy Brantley Bryant, 89, a lifelong resident of Ivor, died Tuesday, May 21, 1996, at Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
She was the daughter of the late Luther H. and Josie Holt Brantley. She was a member of Ivor United Methodist Church. She graduated from Farmville State Teachers College in Farmville and was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught in both Ivor and Courtland. She was the widow of John Simeon ``Jack'' Bryant.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Enfield of Richmond; a son-in-law, Jerry A. Enfield; three granddaughters, Kathie E. Jerow and husband, Tim Jerow, of Waldorf, Md., Susanne E. Currie and husband, Art Currie, of Chesterfield, Kimberly Enfield of Waldorf; four great-granddaughters, Shelby and Michelle Jerow, Sara and Brittney Currie; a sister-in-law, Virginia H. Brantley of Ivor; and a brother, L.A. Brantley Sr. of Ivor; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Revs. Randy Duncan and Edward Owen. Burial will be in Ivor Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the residence of Virginia Brantley, 10053 Ivor Road, Ivor.
