EDITH, STIFLE!
L-u-u-u-u-u-c-y?
These characters of television past are back - not in reruns, but in miniature, portrayed by Hurrah Players troupers from Suffolk and Gates County.
Jennifer Chambers is Edith Bunker. Younger sister Maggie is Lucy Ricardo in the musical revue, ``And the Winner Is . . .,'' at the Wells Theatre in Norfolk.
Other young local artists in the production are third sister Ashley Chambers, and Rachel Ford, Kaitlin Bowles and David DeLong, all of Suffolk, and Colleen Ryan of Gatesville.
The lively production salutes television's golden era, as well as Broadway, Disney, rock 'n' roll, MTV and country.
Youngsters portray such stars as Michael Jackson, Madonna, Elvis, the Beatles and the entire Brady Bunch.
All of the young local stars are involved in the chorus productions. Here is what they are up to individually:
Rachel Ford sings the show's title tune and, in the opening segment, ``Born to Entertain.'' In a '50s segment, she performs ``Peppermint Twist'' and ``Breakin' Up Is Hard to Do.'' In a country segment, she sings Alabama's ``Gonna Have a Party.''
Jennifer Chambers will portray Minnie Pearl, and sing, a la Edith Bunker, the theme from ``All In the Family.''
Ashley Chambers sings the theme from ``Bewitched.''
Kaitlin Bowles sings the ``Mighty Morphin Power Rangers'' theme and offers some ``Pocahontas'' music.
David DeLong does a solo on the title tune from ``Oliver,'' as well as neighing and singing the theme from ``Mister Ed.'' He also solos on ``Peppermint Twist.''
Maggie Chambers - Lucy - is another ``Peppermint Twist'' soloist, hula hooping as she sings. Another solo is ``Bigger Isn't Better'' from ``Barnum.''
Colleen Ryan sings the ``Laverne and Shirley'' title song - she's Laverne. And, by popular demand, she reprises her role from the last Hurrah production, ``Jack and the Beanstalk,'' portraying the rear end of a dancing cow. MEMO: AT A GLANCE
