DOROTHY A. BROWN

Dorothy Alice Brown, of the 2900 block of Beachmont Ave., died May 20, 1996, in a local health care center.

She was retired from the Norfolk Community Hospital and she was also a retired health caretaker. She was a native of Axton, Va., and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She also belonged to the Eastern Star and United Order of Tent.

She is survived by three daughters, Deborah B. Dozier of Bronx, N.Y., Laverne Brown Baker and Jamella M. Brown, both of Norfolk; a son, James B. Barnes of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Walter Lampkin and Charles Lampkin, both of Axton; six grandchildren; a god sister, Vernisha Boyd of Charlotte, N.C.; a son-in-law, Randy Baker and a daughter-in-law, Sarah P. Barnes.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday by the Rev. Jesse E. Arrington Sr. in Bethel Baptist Church. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence. There will be a wake service Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Graves Funeral Home. The body will be taken to church at 10 a.m. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
