Paul R. Abbey, 71, formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Thursday, May 16, 1996, at the Veterans Hospital, in Richmond.
Mr. Abbey was a World War II veteran, and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for service to his country. He was a 1949 graduate of Cornell University. He came to Virginia in 1950 and worked with the Virginia Department of Agriculture for seven years before operating his own business, Campsite Catering Service, for 28 years. He retired in 1986. He was a member of Congregation Beth Ahabah.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine R. Abbey of Richmond; daughters, Linda Abbey and her husband, Errett Callahan of Lynchburg, Ellen Abbey Sacks and her husband, Skip Sacks of Norfolk, Jill Abbey of Richmond; his mother, Berenice Abbey of Brooklyn, N.Y.; grandchildren, Nathan, Sammy, and Hannah Sacks, and Melody Callahan.
A graveside funeral service was held in Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Richmond, Sunday, May 20. Memorial contributions may be made to JCC Cub Scout Troop (NU)330, c/o JCCT, 7300 Newport Ave., Norfolk.
