VIRGINIA W. LAWRENCE

Virginia Woodward ``Ginnie'' Lawrence, of Sherwood Place, beloved wife of John Wesley Lawrence, expired in DePaul Hospital, May 23, 1996, after a four-day illness.

Mrs. Lawrence was born in Norfolk, 1926, daughter of the late Nathaniel Edward and Laura DeYoe Woodward. She attended Chuckatuck High School and Longwood College and was retired from U.S. Navy Civil Service as a personnel specialist. She worked at St. Julien's Creeek and Fifth Naval District, Norfolk. She was a member of the Church of the Advent and served on the Altar Guild. For years she was treasurer of the Oakdale Group.

Survivors include daughters, Daphne Lawrence Hubbard and Catherine Stornetta of Boston; and a brother, Richard Woodward of Reading, Pa. She was predeceased by brothers, Paul Woodward of Norfolk and Jean Woodward of Windsor. Other survivors include nieces, Pat Woodward and Debbie Woodward of Norfolk, Terri Woodward of Virginia Beach, Suzanne Mckenna of Bennetts Creek and Gigi Ley of Providence, R.I.; nephews, Jimmy Woodward of Williamsburg, Roger Woodward of San Francisco and Mark Woodward of Lititz, Pa.; and several great-nieces and -nephews.

A memorial service and Eucharist will be celebrated Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, Pinewell, Norfolk, with Father Robert M. Miller officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the Parish Hall. Memorial donations may be made to the Food Pantry of the Church of the Advent. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is in charge.
