RUTH T. DUDLEY

Ruth Taylor Dudley, 80, died May 23, 1996.

Mrs. Dudley was born in Como, N.C., on Dec. 12, 1915, to William and Martha Taylor. Ruth touched many lives during her 80 years. A graduate of Chowan College, there she found her lifelong love of teaching and the love of her life, Walter R. Dudley. Ruth enriched the lives of her students in classes from seventh grade through high school in her 20-year career.

A longtime member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church and the Modern Lydia Sunday school class, Ruth was dedicated to serving the Lord, and she was also devoted to her husband, family and friends. When Walter became ill in 1978, she devoted herself to him and his care.

A resident of Springmoor for the past 12 years, others came to see Ruth as a seemingly tireless, loving angel, who always had time for a smile and a kind word to everyone, even as she cared for Walter. She now rejoins her beloved husband of 57 years and together they are now in their Lord's Paradise of Heaven.

Mrs. Dudley is survived by her sisters, Marguriete James of Winston-Salem and Martha McKellar of Como; brother, Howard Taylor of Como; daughter, Jean Bower of Greenville, S.C.; son, Walter R. Dudley Jr. of Aurora, Ill; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hayes Barton Baptist Church with a graveside service following at Raleigh Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, c/o Hayes Barton Baptist Church, P.O. Box 6098, Raleigh, N.C. 27628. Arrangements by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, St. Mary's Street, Raleigh.
