CHANGE RIDICULOUS PROM RULE

In response to ``Missing paperwork bars senior, date from prom'' (MetroNews, May 15):

How sad it is for senior Anh Phu to have missed his prom, which is a once-in-a-lifetime event, because of a ridiculous rule that Chesapeake high schools abide by.

Anh and his date and others who may be in this situation should be able to attend under circumstances beyond one's control.

Once admitted into the prom, if someone doesn't show ``good character'' or doesn't abide by the school's rules, then action should be taken. Not even to have been given a chance is truly sad!

I have three children who will have proms to look forward to several years down the road. I hope rules will have changed by then.
