CAREER TRACK

BANKING

Myra Willingham was named loan officer at Provident Bank in Virginia Beach. She will be responsible for new business development in the Western Branch area of Portsmouth. She was previously an office manager/loan processor and internal auditor for the Lomas & Nettleton Co.

Ronald L. Gwaltney was promoted to vice president at Central Fidelity National Bank. He joined the bank in 1993 as manager for residential construction loans in the mortgage division and has served in that position since then. Prior to joining Central Fidelity, he was employed with Dominion Bank for 15 years.

Cenit Bank vice president Larry W. Turner was appointed manager of the bank's Peninsula residential mortgage lending department. He was previously assigned to Cenit's South Hampton Roads Mortgage Center in Chesapeake.

Bonnie S. Smith, a 20-year real estate lender with a major commercial bank, was named first vice president of Cenit Bank. She was also named the manager of the bank's Peninsula real estate finance operations. She'll work in the bank's Kiln Creek headquarters.

B.W. ``Rod'' Rodriguez and Howard R. Sykes Jr. were elected to the board of directors at the Bank of Tidewater. Rodriguez, president of Bay Mechanical Inc. in Virginia Beach, was formerly an advisory director of the bank's Kempsville Board since 1988 and chairman of the bank's Lynnhaven Advisory Board since 1994. Sykes, an attorney with Sykes Carnes Bourdon & Ahern in Virginia Beach, has been a member of the bank's Independence Advisory Board since 1986.

HEALTH CARE

Dr. Jeffrey S. Hembree has joined Dr. Stefan Murza at his new Deep Creek location on S. Military Highway and George Washington Highway for the practice of chiropractic. Hembree continues to practice with Dr. Charles L. O'Dea at Suffolk Chiropractic in Suffolk. Hembree specializes in spinal injuries and spinal rehabilitation.

Dr. Richard L. Cullen was appointed medical director for Atlantic Medical Weight Loss Institute in Virginia Beach. He will oversee a program which offers nutritional, psychological and behavioral counseling and aerobic and fitness training. He will continue to practice internal medicine at NDC Medical Center.

MEDIA

Stephen Hadder was named director of sales and customer service at Cox Communications. He will be responsible for all Cox's sales and customer service operations. Most recently, he was the director of field operations and partner relations for Bellsouth Cellular Corp.

ORGANIZATIONS

Linda E. White was named president and Dawn M. Burke was named vice president of the Norfolk-Portsmouth Area Legal Secretaries Association. White works for Hofheimer Nusbaum McPhaul & Samuels and Burke works for Kaufman & Canoles.REAL ESTATE

Kathleen M. Davis was appointed director of training for GSH Real Estate Corp. She will be responsible for the development and administration of associate training programs for all GSH locations in Williamsburg and the Hampton Roads area. Before this, she was a realtor for GSH.

John M. Profilet was named vice president, office and industrial division at S.L. Nusbaum Realty Co. He was formerly a commercial leasing agent and property manager with the office and industrial division of the company.

RETAIL

Ken Hartman was named general manager of Hall Nissan in Virginia Beach. He will oversee sales and service operations. He was general sales manager of Hall Auto Mall/Newport News.

SERVICE

A. Keith Miller was promoted to operations manager at Miller Oil Co. He will be responsible for the overall operation of all Miller Mart convenience stores. He was a retail marketing representative.

Also, Timothy W. Taylor was promoted to retail market representative. In this position, he will oversee Miller Mart operations on the Peninsula. He was manager of a Miller Mart in Carrollton.

TOURISM

Susan Green was named executive vice president of Colonial Williamsburg Hotel Properties. She was group vice president for hospitality and real estate for Kohler Co. in Kohler, Wis. At Kohler, she was responsible for nine restaurants, 296 hotel rooms and 1,250 staff members. MEMO: Career Track reports upper-level executive and management changes.
