A woman allegedly using stolen credit cards at a building supply store led police on a high-speed pursuit Sunday, lost control of her car and crashed into a tractor-trailer, police said.
Police were called to Lowe's in the 3500 block of Holland Road shortly after 6 p.m. The woman, whose name has not been released, refused to stop, leading police down Holland Road onto Lynnhaven Parkway and South Independence Boulevard.
When the woman tried to turn onto Green Meadows Drive, the right tire of her blue Cadillac blew out and she lost control, crashing into the parked tractor-trailer. The car was wedged under the truck and caught fire, police said.
As she got out of the car, she began to fight with officers, who handcuffed her and took her a safe distance from the burning car, police said. The woman, who provided home addresses in both Chesapeake and Norfolk, faces charges of reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and eluding police.
In addition, she may face charges related to the unauthorized use of a credit card. Police said she was attempting to return items, that had been purchased with a possible stolen credit card.
