I was chagrined to arise to yet another headline dramatizing problems in the U.S. Navy (``Navy after Boorda: What next?'' news, May 19): I think you have done a sufficient job over the past few years hashing and rehashing the Navy's ``times of scandal, catastrophe and controversy.'' Could we please move on to something else?
I am looking forward to seeing the companion piece to your story which, by contrast, has not yet been adequately told: a chronicle heralding the many achievements of the 99.9 percent of the people in our Navy who represent the very finest our country has to offer.
How about a review featuring the countless times the Navy has been called upon to be there for the country in the past decade (Libya, Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Bosnia, Haiti, Cuba, Somalia, Liberia. . . .)? Or maybe a vast discussions of the way in which the Navy kept the faith with the vast majority of its flock in an era of downsizing while civilian corporations were showing employees the door by the thousands?
Perhaps you could even look into the value to society Navy leaders provide with their talent in light of the salaries their civilian counterparts draw.
