WILLIS N. CULLIFER JR.

Willis Neal Cullifer Jr., 71, died in a nursing home after a long illness on Monday, May 27, 1996.

Mr. Cullifer was born in Rocky Mount, N.C., the son of Willis Neal Cullifer Sr. of Rocky Mount, and Bessie Bragg Cullifer of Ocracoke, N.C. Both preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 through 1945, after which he attended and graduated from the College of William and Mary. He was retired from Crockin-Levy Furniture Company after a 29-year tenure.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Peggy Wilcox Cullifer; a daughter, Deborah Cullifer Garcia of Merritt Island, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Neal Cullifer and his wife, Janet Goodrich Cullifer, and Eric Gregory Cullifer and his wife, Georgia Mildenberg Cullifer, all of Virginia Beach; plus four grandchildren, Brandon Garcia, Chris Cullifer, Michael Cullifer, and Shannon Marie Cullifer. Additionally he is survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Laura and Thomas J. East, Diane and Bill Kemp, and Dolores and Thomas Snead, all of Virginia Beach; four sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Nellie Wilcox Sprouse, Mary Wilcox Yates, Margaret Wilcox Yates, Herbert and Mary Ann Wilcox, all of Roanoke, Va., and Rocky Mount, Va.; plus many nieces and nephews.

Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, is in charge of services. The family will be at 453 Dauphin Lane, Virginia Beach, and will also receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. on Thursday by the Rev. Ronald W. Lee. Interment will be in Willow Wood Cemetery, Virginia Beach.
