Jesse James Stevens, 70, died May 26, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mr. Stevens, a native of Coalburg, W.Va., was a retired carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Stevens; three daughters, Susan E. Woolridge, Beverly H. Leary, Jessica S. Edelstein; a son, Steve C. Stevens; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Thomas E. Becker in Meadowbrook Memorial Mausoleum Chapel. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 9 p.m.
