A woman was killed in when her car collided with an 18-wheeler trailer truck on Jefferson Avenue early Monday, police said.
Gail J. Miller, 34, of Newport News died in the accident, which happened about 3:10 a.m. The passenger in her two-door 1995 Mitsubishi, Johnny S. Austin, 42, of Newport News was taken to surgery and was listed in serious condition at Riverside Regional Medical Center.
Police said the driver of the 1987 Mack truck, Tony Salmon, was treated for his injuries and released.
