COWBOY HELLO

My friends and I demonstrated against the rodeo on May 10-12 at Princess Anne Park. I just had to write and let folks know how friendly those cowboys were.

The cowboys all seemed to be smiling and laughing as they drove past us. Many of them worried that we didn't have anything better to do and even offered us ``real jobs!'' Some took the time to educate us to the fact that animals like being spurred, cinched, lassoed, dropped to the ground, jumped on.

When they weren't teaching us, they were saying hello! A lot of people might not know that instead of waving, nodding or tipping their hats, cowboys say hello by pointing their middle fingers at you. They must have said hello that way a thousand times!

When the weekend came to a close, I felt certain the animals had about as much fun as my friends and I did. Yes indeed, those cowpokes certainly were a positive influence on our community.
