A driver who police say was involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident early Monday has been identified, and charges are pending against him, police said Tuesday.
Robert Roberts Jr., 25, of the 400 block of Gulick Drive, Fort Monroe, was driving a 1996 Plymouth Voyager van that struck and killed Sherman C. Sykes of the 2000 block of Pond Lane in Chesapeake, police said.
The accident happened about 1:40 a.m. on Route 58 Bypass as Sykes, 39, was walking around his car to switch places with his wife, who had been driving.
