If you like to be entertained and you enjoy the great outdoors, Suffolk, Franklin and Smithfield will keep you happy with varied attractions this summer.
Suffolk Summer Celebration, Franklin's We Be Jammin' Thursdays and Smithfield's Summer Concert Series are free, and food and beverages are available in Suffolk and Franklin.
Some proceeds from those sales in Suffolk go to local civic organizations. Suffolk retains a portion to pay for the entertainment, and Franklin uses the proceeeds to finance the events.
In Suffolk, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Facility Management is seeking sponsors of the concerts, so more money can be given to service groups.
The music starts at 5:30 in Suffolk and Franklin. It ends at 8 p.m. in Suffolk. Franklin swings until 9 p.m. Smithfield goes for an hour - 8 to 9 p.m.
Suffolkians will be entertained at Constant's Wharf, downtown Franklin jams are at Barretts Landing on South Main Street, and Smithfield's concerts go on at Times Square, in front of the Smithfield Times, 288 Main St.
