Mrs. Edna Wilson Macomb, 88, widow of Capt. Alexander Macomb, U.S. Navy (Ret.), died May 29, 1996, in her home at 4800 Atlantic Ave. in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Macomb was born in Meridian, Miss., in 1907 and lived in Washington, D.C., for 41 years. She worked in the Office of the Combined Chiefs of Staff during World War II. Her husband, who retired from the Navy in 1945, once served as the Naval Aide to President Herbert Hoover.
Mrs. Macomb moved to Virginia Beach in 1982. She is survived by her son, Rutherford C. Lake Jr. of Newport News; three grandsons, Rutherford C. Lake III, Stephen Mead Lake of Williamsburg and William Bruce Lake of Atlanta; and a great-granddaughter, Ragan Mead Lake of Atlanta.
A graveside service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Friday, June 14 at 2 p.m.
