Born Oct. 11, 1919, in New York City, Jane Hedges, whose stage name was Jan Richards, starred in many Broadway productions from 1933 to the early 1940s. She died May 29, 1996.
She continued her career in Hollywood, Calif., and also in Kaneohe, Hawaii, where she was also known as an accomplished artist and sculptor. Her finest role was as the loved matriarch of her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Jane of Norfolk and Carol Jane of Kallua, Hawaii; and her cousin and closest friend, Olive Pridgen. She was blessed with six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who will miss her and remember her as a talented woman who lived with great dignity and will be thought of always with love.
The body was taken to Twiford Funeral Home, Ghent Chapel, pending arrangements.
