VERNON K. WILSON

Vernon Keith Wilson, 36, of the 1000 block of Mahone Ave., died May 29, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General.

He was a police lieutenant for the Naval Base Police Force. He was a native of Norfolk and was a member of New Hope United Church of Christ, Norfolk, where he belonged to the New Hope Mass Choir and was an usher.

He is survived by his parents, Joyce A. Wilson and Vernon T. Wilson, both of Norfolk; two sisters, Valerie Mitchell and Pearl Wilson, both of Norfolk; a brother, Jeffery Williamson of Norfolk; two grandmothers, Wilma Wilson and Helen Drayton, both of Norfolk; an aunt, Rosalyn Eaton of Pennsylvania; a great aunt, Irene Jones of Newport News; brother-in-law, Chris Mitchell of Norfolk; two nephews; and a niece, all of Norfolk.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. James Anderson officiating and with the Rev. Shelton Smith eulogizing, in New Hope U.C.C., Norfolk. Burial is in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be today from 2 to 8 p.m. at Prelow's Funeral Home and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Family and friends will assemble at 1036 Mahone Ave., Norfolk, on Saturday at 12:15 p.m. for the procession to the church. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
