Mrs. Leida Mills Lewis, died Tuesday, May 29, 1996, at Greenville Villa.
Mrs. Lewis, a native of Pitt County, was reared in the Black Jack community and attended Chicod High School and William and Mary College Extension in Norfolk. She was employed at U.S. Public Health Service in Norfolk for 23 years. She was a member of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Norfolk.
Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Lewis, who died in 1972. She is survived by many devoted friends, including her best friend, Addie Mae Worthington, and her family.
A graveside service will be today at 3 p.m. in Pinewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pitt County Humane Society for pet adoptions, Route 16, Box 172, Greenville, N.C. 27834, or in memory of her deceased parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hyman Mills, to the Black Jack Free Will Baptist Church, Route 3, Greenville, N.C. 27834. Wilkerson Funeral Home is in charge.
