John Lynwood Tapscott, 81, of the 700 block of Arthurs Court, died May 29, 1996, in a Chesapeake hospital.
He was a retired crane operator for Norfolk Shipbuilding and Drydock where he had worked for 26 years. He was a native of Buckingham County, Va.
Mr. Tapscott is survived by his wife of 56 years, Grace Marie Tapscott; daughter, Carolyn Lee Gingerich of Abbeville, S.C.; two sisters, Virginia Bolling of New Canton, Va., and Elizabeth Stephenson of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Paul D. Moore in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel. Burial is in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
