WILLIAM E. BRATTEN SR.

William E. Bratten Sr., 100, of the 100 block of Sir Oliver Road, died May 30, 1996.

He was a retired real estate broker for W.E. Bratten Real Estate where he had worked for 55 years. He was a native of St. Brides, Va., and the widower of Frances Smith Bratten. He was a member of the Elks Lodge (NU)856 in Elizabeth City, N.C., for 72 years. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by a son, William E. Bratten Jr., also of the 100 block of Sir Oliver Road; two grandsons, Gordon Russell Bryan and Dayton Scott Bryan, both of Topeka, Kan.; a great-grandson, Matthew Bryan of Topeka; a nephew of Virginia Beach; a great-niece of Norfolk; and a cousin, Cordellia Blanchard of Aulander, N.C.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday by the Rev. W. Dabney Walters in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
