Gin was a 1943 graduate of The College of William and Mary, inducted into the Old Guard in 1993. She was her college class reporter for 28 years, always beginning her column with ``Greetings from the gentle city.'' During World War II she was a cryptanalyst with the Army Signal Corps, doing her share to help us win the war. She taught elementary school at several of her husband's duty stations. She continued her interest in education by teaching in Adult Skills Program locally. She was a costumed historical interpreter for 14 wonderful years with Colonial Williamsburg. She was a past president of the local Chapter of AAUW, and past treasurer of The Rose and Thistle Chapter of the Embroiderer's Guild of America, and a member of The Williamsburg Doll Club. She was a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church. She had a breezy familiarity with the world through her travels with Joe, and was ``glad that for this last journey, she didn't have to pack.''
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church by the Rev. Douglas Wilson. Arrangements are being handled by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society in the memory of Virginia Patterson.
