``The Lost Colony'' drama will celebrate 59 years on the stage this summer. The nation's longest-running outdoor pageant will give its annual Dare Night performance at Waterside Theatre on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.
As in past years, all Dare County residents will be admitted to the show for free, with a donation of a non-perishable food item to benefit the Dare County food pantries.
Seating is by general admission at the theater at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site on the north end of Roanoke Island. Gates will open at 7:30 p.m. Dare County residents must show proof of residency such as a driver's license or recent utilities bill.
Co-sponsors of this event are WVOD radio station FM 99.1, Seamark Foods and Metro Rentals.
``The Lost Colony's'' formal production season opens to the public Thursday and runs nightly except Saturdays through Aug. 23. This year's play features many changes, including a new music score, new and upgraded sets, and a restaging of several key scenes.
