The destroyer Nicholson arrives at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in

Portsmouth on Thursday, the first of eight warships on their way to

a new home there. Nearly 2,500 sailors, plus the staffs of two

destroyer squadrons, will come along. The Navy is making the move to

ease congestion at its main base in Norfolk. Warships haven't called

the Portsmouth yard home since about 1907. by CNB
