COLUMNIST WINS AWARD

ALEXANDRIA BERGER, who writes the Imperfect Navigator column which appears in Real Life, has received the 1996 Muscular Dystrophy Association's Personal Achievement Award for the state of Virginia.

The award recognizes accomplishments and community service of people with disabilities caused by neuromuscular diseases.

Berger, 54, suffers from lupus and two forms of muscular dystrophy.

She was cited by the MDA for being ``a role model.''

You've illustrated how to capitalize on your abilities,'' said Robert Rosen, MDA executive director. ``And your perseverance and fortitude are an inspiration to all.''

Berger is a candidate for the MDA's national award, which will be announced on ``Stars Across America Jerry Lewis Telethon'' on Labor Day weekend. by CNB
