The Chesapeake City Council met Tuesday and took the following actions, based on a report from the Office of the City Clerk.

Acceptance of the resignation of Mary Haddad from the Fine Arts Commission. Approved, 9-0.

Refund of Assessed taxes to individuals and businesses. Approved, 9-0.

Request by the Police Department for appropriation of $208.32 of Overtime Reimbursement Funds allocated by the U.S. Department of Justice. Approved, 9-0.

Request by the Police Department for appropriation of $15,662.87 of School Security Reimbursement Funds. Approved, 9-0.

Request by the Police Department for authority to submit a major drug violator/repeat offender investigation unit grant application to the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. Approved, 9-0.

Request by the Sheriff's Office for authority to submit a Victim Witness Program grant application to the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. Approved, 9-0.

Consideration of a resolution authorizing the interim city manager and the city clerk to execute a deed vacating and conveying to Cousins/New Market Development Co. Inc. Approved, 9-0.

Consideration of a resolution authorizing the interim city manager and city clerk to execute a certain agreement with the state Department of Transportation pertaining to the signal interconnect project along Military Highway. Approved, 9-0.

Consideration of an ordinance repealing tradesperson certification. Approved, 9-0.

Request by Margaret Davis for a vacation of right of way on Old Mount Pleasant Road. Approved, 9-0.

Consideration of a resolution authorizing the interim city manager and the city clerk to execute water contract with the city of Portsmouth. Approved, 8-0;

Consideration of an ordinance to merge the Department of Juvenile Detention with the Department of Social Services to create a new Department to be known as Department of Human Services, and to merge the Juvenile Detention Advisory Board with the Welfare Advisory Board to create a new board to be known as the Human Services Advisory Board.
