Clarence Lee Cordell, 87, a resident of Suffolk, died May 31, 1996, in a Portsmouth nursing home.
Mr. Cordell was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a shipwright. He was a Protestant. Mr. Cordell was preceded in death by his wife, Bellzie L. Cordell.
Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Cordell Homsher of Austin, Ark., Mary Cordell Postell of Midlothian, Va., Gloria Cordell Fekeith of Orlando, Fla., and Sarah Cordell Crowder of Walters, Va.; three sons, Clarence William Cordell of Valdosta, Ga., Ray Cordell of Kissimmee, Fla., and Franklin Eugene Cordell of Prairieville, La.; a brother, Paul F. Cordell of Charleston, W.Va.; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at noon in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, by the Rev. Michael Webb. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to a charity of choice.
