Emma Marion Ahlborn Daffer, 82, died Saturday evening, May 25, 1996, at the home of her daughter, Elizabeth Smith.
Emma was a ``Gold Star Mother,'' having had a son killed in combat in Vietnam in 1968, Master Sergeant J. Daffer, a member of 1st Battalion, 8th Regiment of the 1st Cavalry Division. Her husband, James William Daffer, died in Norfolk in 1984.
Survivors include a sister, Georgia May Furrow of Kansas; two brothers, Martin Ahlborn of Turlock, Calif., and William G. Ahlborn of Santa Clara, Calif. Mrs. Daffer was the mother of seven living children, Carol M. Hildreth of Henderson, Nev., Virginia L. McCaughan of Norfolk, James W. Daffer Jr. of Circleville, Utah, Daniel I. Daffer and Charles A. Daffer of Pahrump, Nev., Katherine Behmer of Overton, Nev., and Elizabeth Smith of Laurel, Md.; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
The funeral was held May 29, 1996, at Fleck Funeral Home, Laurel, Md. Burial and graveside service were held Saturday in Pahrump, Nev. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
