MARY J. MOONEY

Mary Jane Mooney, 74, of the 1800 block of Foxhound Lane, died May 31, 1996, in her home.

Mrs. Mooney, widow of Joseph Patrick Mooney, was born in Holyoke, Mass. She was formerly a registered nurse, as first lieutenant in the Army Women's Air Corps from 1942 to 1946. She was preceded in death by a son, John F. Mooney, and a daughter, Karen Sanserverino.

Survivors include two daughters, Christine Mooney Selfridge and Dr. Martha Mooney-Old and her husband, Dr. Wayne Old, all of Virginia Beach; a son, Michael J. Mooney and his wife, Gayle of Columbia, N.C.; a sister, Louise Matewski of Massachussetts; 13 grandchildren: Mary Kay Mooney, Sean, Brian and Christopher Mooney, Dierdra Van Ness and Stacey Sanserverino, Justin Selfridge, Lindsey Selfridge, Amanda Mooney, John and Gregory Mooney and Jennifer and Bethany Old; a daughter-in-law, Betty Ann Mooney; and a son-in-law, Raymond Sanserverino.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday by Father Robert Shay at the Church of the Holy Family. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Holloman-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, is handling arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with a Christian wake service to be held at 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Mission, P.O.
