James Milton Wood, 74, of the 800 block of Post Ave., died May 31, 1996.
He was a retired bridge tender for the Jordan Bridge, City of Chesapeake, after 40 years of service. He was a native of South Norfolk and a member of Chesapeake Avenue United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Howell Bible Class. He was also a member of the Niner's Senior Citizens Club and the South Norfolk Civic League.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Price Wood and sister, Beatrice W. McClennan of Chesapeake.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday by the Rev. John Andrews in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, today from 5 to 6 p.m. and at the residence at all other times. Memorial contributions should be made to the Society of St. Stephen of Chesapeake Avenue United Methodist Church.
