Alan Dean Callaway, 61, of the 100 block of York Drive, died Sunday, June 2, 1996, in his residence.
Mr. Callaway, a native of Beckley, W.Va., was the owner of Pipe Incorporated of Suffolk. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union (NU)110.
Survivors include his wife, Cerretta Mae Callaway; three daughters, Brenda Howard of Chesapeake, Joyce Saunders of Raleigh, N.C., and Deborah Crosby of Nags Head, N.C.; two sons, Johnny Gunnell of Eure County, N.C., and Barry Wood of Portsmouth; a brother, Darrell Callaway and his wife, Ann, of Richmond; two nephews, Doug and Ronnie Callaway, both of Richmond; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel by Dr. Ted Barton. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will be at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society for Melanoma Research.
