Lily Davis Simmons, 104, of the 1000 block of Main Creek Road, died May 29, 1996.
Mrs. Simmons, a homemaker, was the widow of Shirley Simmons. She was born in Norfolk County, Deep Creek. She was a member of Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, the senior choir, Missionary Circle and the Daniel C. Britt Sunday school class. Also, she was a member of Past Matron Bethany 131 Order of Eastern Star for 60 years.
Survivors include a son, Cecil T. Davis Sr. of Chesapeake; two daughters-in-law, Willie C. Davis of Chesapeake and Beatrice Davis of Norfolk; a niece, Sara E. Roberts of Chesapeake; a nephew-in-law, George B. Roberts of Chesapeake; and a nephew, Clarence W. Ellison of Chesapeake; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon today by the Rev. Dr. Donald F. Taylor at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Metropolitan Funeral Service is handling the arrangements. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. today. Family and friends will assemble at 11 a.m. at 1021 Main Creek Road, Chesapeake, for the funeral procession to the church. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
