Our heavenly father dispatched a celestial chariot to bring home Master Derrick Andre Nottingham Jr. Thursday May 30, 1996. Derrick Jr. was born Sept. 17, 1995, in Norfolk. He was the joy of his parents for eight wonderful months.
``Junior,'' as he was affectionately called, was dedicated to the Lord on Dec. 10, 1995, at Zion Baptist Church. He loved to sing, listen to music and have stories read to him.
Lovingly cherishing his life are his parents, Mr. Derrick Sr. and Dr. Robin Crump Nottingham of Virginia Beach; god parents, Darnell and Lisa Streat of Chesapeake; grandparents, Vernon and Ester Crump of Portsmouth, James and Shirley Nottingham of Virginia Beach; great-grandparents, Estelle Brown of Chesapeake, Ruth Mitchell of Portsmouth, and Susie Alston of Norfolk; aunts, Deborah Goodrich and Denita Jackson, both of Chesapeake, Tawana Nottingham-Alston of Maryland and Vernette Washington of Portsmouth; uncles, Rev. Vernon C. Crump III of Mechanicsville and Steve Nottingham of Maryland; a ``sister-like'' cousin, E. Twe' Avant of Chesapeake; and a host of other devoted great-aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday by Dr. H. Edward Whitaker and Dr. G. Daniel Jones in Zion Baptist Church, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake.
